Why Nairobi Homes and Businesses Are Going Solar
Kenya Power's tariffs are structured in bands, and most Nairobi households land in the "ordinary" or "high-usage" category. As of 2026, domestic customers using between 31 and 100 units a month pay roughly KES 16.45 per unit before levies and VAT, and heavier usage moves into a band closer to KES 19 per unit. Once fuel cost charges, forex adjustments, and levies are added, the all-in cost for an ordinary household often works out closer to KES 25 per unit.
That's the number that makes solar attractive: a well-sized system doesn't just cut a bill, it removes the exposure to future tariff increases entirely. For businesses running continuous refrigeration, machinery, or lighting, solar often pays for itself through operational savings within two to four years.

Our Solar and Security Services
Everything below is delivered by our own in-house team, from first survey to after-installation support.
Solar Installation
Hybrid and off-grid solar systems sized to your roof and your actual usage, for homes and businesses.
CCTV & Security Systems
CCTV, access control, and security system installation for homes, offices, and commercial premises.
Backup Power & Electrical
Generators, ATS integration, and the electrical work that keeps your solar and security systems running.
Solar equipment supply and solar system service and maintenance support the installation work above: panel cleaning, inverter checks, and battery health monitoring keep a system performing at full capacity for its full working life, and we supply equipment directly for property owners with their own contractor.

What EPRA Licensing Means for You
Kenya's solar sector is regulated by EPRA under the Energy Act, 2019. Anyone installing solar systems commercially needs a valid EPRA contractor licence, and the contractor must employ an EPRA-licensed technician. An unlicensed installer is a real liability risk, and licensed work is what makes a system eligible for proper Kenya Power interconnection later on.
For most homes and small businesses, self-generation for your own consumption under 1 MW doesn't require you personally to hold a generation licence, that responsibility sits with your installer's contractor licence.
What Solar Actually Saves You
Most well-sized residential systems in Nairobi pay for themselves in five to eight years, then produce free power for the remaining 15 to 20 years of the system's working life. A few things worth checking before you commit:
- ✓Get a written system size and cost estimate based on your actual bills, not a generic package price.
- ✓Ask directly whether the installer holds a current EPRA contractor licence.
- ✓Check what warranty covers the panels, the inverter, and the battery separately, they're usually different lengths.
- ✓Ask who handles maintenance after year one, and what a call-out costs.
- ✓If you're considering financing, read the total repayment amount, not just the monthly figure.

FAQs - Solar & CCTV Services in Nairobi
Do I need EPRA approval to install solar at my home?+
No, the contractor needs the licence, not the homeowner. Just confirm your installer is licensed.
How long does a typical residential installation take?+
Most home systems are installed within two to five days once equipment is on site, depending on system size and roof access.
Can I add battery storage later if I start with a grid-tied system?+
In most cases yes, provided the inverter you start with is hybrid-capable. This is worth confirming at the design stage.
What happens to my solar system during a power outage?+
A hybrid system with battery storage keeps running. A grid-tied system without batteries typically shuts down for safety unless it has anti-islanding backup configured separately.
Do you offer financing or pay-as-you-go plans?+
We can discuss flexible payment options at the quote stage. Let us know your budget constraints during the site survey.
How often does a solar system need maintenance?+
Panel cleaning every three to six months in Nairobi's dustier periods, plus an annual full system check, is typical.
Is CCTV installation available without solar?+
Yes, it's offered as a standalone service.
Do you service systems installed by other companies?+
Yes, provided the existing installation meets basic safety standards on inspection.
